About the candidate

[Short biography to be written by the candidate: where he lives in Torbay, what he does, and why he is standing.]

Five promises about how I'll work

  1. Every promise I make will have a date, and I'll publish a scorecard of them.
  2. I'll hold a surgery every month in each of the three towns, and one online.
  3. I'll publish a short report of what I've done every month.
  4. When I don't know something, I'll say so — and come back with the answer.
  5. I'll publish my meetings with developers and lobbyists.

How we use AI

We use AI to read long council documents, sort problem reports, group ideas and questions, and write first drafts.

AI makes mistakes. So a person checks every draft against the original source before it is published or sent, and the site will not let us publish an explainer until that check is ticked.

We never use AI to create fake images, voices or quotes, and any chat assistant on this site will always tell you it is an AI.

Privacy notice

[Plain-English draft for review by a data protection adviser before launch.]

What we collect

  • Problem reports: what you report, where, and any photo. Your name and email only if you choose to give them.
  • Votes on ideas: your vote and town, linked to an anonymous code stored in your browser. We don't know who you are.
  • Volunteers: your name, email, ward, skills and the time you can give, with your consent.
  • Questions for surgeries: your question and, if you give it, your first name.

Why

To chase local problems, to understand what residents want, and to organise volunteering. Information about people's political views is sensitive, so we keep it to the minimum and protect it.

Who sees it

Reports are shown publicly without your name or email. Contact details are seen only by the local organising team. We never sell your data or share it with anyone else.

Emails and texts

We only email or text you if you have said yes, and every message lets you stop them.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time. Contact the promoter named at the foot of this page.

Meet Johnno Hills

Johnno Hills

"A dedicated and compassionate professional with over two decades of experience delivering impactful care and support across health, social care, and criminal justice sectors."

What drives him

"My political views are shaped by values of fairness, personal responsibility, and sustainable welfare, informed by my role in social care within the NHS."

He supports the welfare system but believes it must be balanced with accountability: "welfare should empower, not enable dependency."

The challenges he wants to tackle

  • Strain on public services: streamline management in the NHS and the police, and modernise their IT.
  • Crime linked to drugs and alcohol: treat addiction as a public health issue.
  • Immigration pressures: stricter border controls.
  • Free speech: protect people's right to speak their mind.
